We recently covered the British Army's Inter Corps Cross Country which was held at Tidworth. It coincided with the February week which saw record temperatures recorded in the South of England and the finishing straight was flooded with light from the low winter sun. It ensured that most of the athletes had light fall off across their faces and bodies as they ran towards the finish.
Lee Crabb, from Scrumpix Images, was the photographer at the event and afterwards I took some of his images and created a template to examine how the highlights and shadows interacted in each image. I was again drawn to a black and white base as often the lack of colour brings out an emotion in the image which for me is consistent with the effort and concentration of the athletes.
