Looking across to Hayden’s Peak reminded me of the John Denver song Rocky Mountain High. It’s second line goes “Coming home to a place he’d never been before.” And so it was for me. Although I had never been in the Colorado Rockies there was a familiarity and peace about being back in a mountain landscape. However the peace was not to last long. Weather is always changeable in mountain regions and it was thrilling to watch as a summer thunder storm generated before unleashing a severe down pouring of hail. The following photographs are my attempt at capturing the mood of the sky as the storm developed.
