New Caps and Record Breakers

The Royal Navy team selected to play the Marine Nationale at RC Toulon’s Stade Mayol  has been announced and can be found here.  The team is an exciting blend of experience, youth and those new to the famous Navy Blue shirt of the Royal Navy Rugby Union.  Director of Rugby Andy Kellett has selected six new caps in the starting XV with a potential for another five of the bench.

Congratulations go to the following new caps:

Jorgi Quarnivalu - 689 1st capped 2012, Toulon

Jorgi becomes the 689th player to represent the Royal Navy Rugby Union

Ben Fox - 690 1st capped 2012, Toulon
Tom Glover - 691 1st capped 2012, Toulon
Darren Bamford - 692 1st capped 2012, Toulon
















Darren Bamford will join the list of those Navy Players who have been capped in both the League and Union codes of the Game.

Nathan Huntley - 693 1st capped 2012, Toulon
Jon Humphreys - 694 1st capped 2012, Toulon

Jon Humphreys as the 694th player becomes the latest of the successful 2010 Navy Rugby U23 side to step up to full senior honours.












Marsh Cormack - most capped lock forward

Elsewhere, Marsh Cormack wins his seventeenth cap (first against the Marine Nationale).  This makes him the ninth most capped player of all time, a position he shares with current US Portsmouth RFC Director of Rugby Si Burns.  However he does be come the most capped lock forward in the history of Navy Rugby.

Andy Vance - 10 cap milestone

Andy Vance reaches the significant milestone of ten Navy caps which puts him level with some illustrious former Navy players including current Director of Rugby Andy Kellett, recent fellow players Jamie Caruana, Rob LLoyd and Calum MacRae and also the legendary Hayden Mainwaring.
