The weekend, in photography terms, had been frustrating. A couple of landscape images that I am waiting to capture had been tantalisingly close. One particular image was missed by less than five minutes when the heavens opened. The glorious colours reflected in the still loch before me became lost, as the surface was heavily disturbed by the rain.
However my luck was to change on Remembrance Day itself. First I enjoyed a very moving afternoon at the Commando Memorial @ Spean Bridge memorial which I wrote about earlier.
The evening journey back to Skye was via Kintail and the Kyle of Lochalsh as we had missed the last ferry from Mallaig. It proved a very worthwhile trip. For a brief moment as we approached Loch Duich the skies cleared. The air was totally still and for that short period of time the iconic Eilean Donan Castle looked at its delightful best. I feel the couple of images I managed to capture convey a mood that is appropriate to Remembrance Day.
The two images are now on my site with another landscape of the castle. It can be found by clicking here.
