Army Rugby Union - Light Project Update
This is an update on the project that myself, Lee Crabb of Scrumpix Images and Charley Rose of Charley Rose Photography are undertaking to explore and capture different images of rugby union in collaboration with the Army Rugby Union. Having spent sometime with a few players from the Army Rugby Union Senior XV this time it was the U23XV who were kind enough to take some time out from their preparations for the 2017 U23XV Inter Service Championship and allowed us to stage some shots.
In this post I have just reproduced four of the images that we captured. Each image has the image 'as captured' in the camera along with a post production image. The post production image is a tentative exploration of how we might then take a composition and migrate it into a versatile image that can support promotional activities when used is different contexts. In doing this we are trying to stay true to out themes of:
- capturing detail of a rugby match
- the image is taken on location and where possible utilises the advantages of the location
- the images are 'powerful' and convey movement correctly
The images of the scrum were taken with a Canon 5DSr, Canon EF11-24mm lens @ f4.0, 1 x profoto B1X plus 2 x LED Rotolights with red gels fitted. Post production using ON1 Plus
Image of the 3 players celebrating was taken with a Canon 5DSr, Canon EF24-70mm lens @ f2.8 with 2 x profoto B1X. Post production using ON1 Plus
Image of the lineout was taken with a Canon 5DSr, Canon EF11-24mm lens @ f4.0 with 2 x profoto B1X. Post production using ON1 Plus
Thank You
Thanks go to Nigel Hinton, the players and coaching staff from the Army Rugby Union U23XV who gave their time freely to us to enable the project to continue it's development.
