9 Jun 2017 Lady of Avenel Escorted from Sleat by Dolphin Guard by Geraint Ashton Jones | posted in: Mhor Skye Musings, Wildlife Photography | 0 As the heavy cloud clears from Eigg the early morning sun catches the rigging of the brigantine, Lady of Avenel, which moored just below the house last night. I wasn’t the only photographer whose interest had been aroused by the unexpected visitor to Aird. Simon Larson, another photographer on Sleat, with a very distinctive style which I hugely admire, was also spotted taking a closer look. My hope was that she would leave with her canvas unfurled but clearly a gentle onshore breeze persuaded them to leave under the motor. However my initial disappointment was tempered by the dolphins which appeared on her bow as the anchor was hauled onboard. As Lady of Avenel gains some speed so the dolphins decided to put on a little show and started to clear the water with their familiar displays of exuberance. Even the occasional back flip was on show. Before she finally rounded the headline with dolphins fore and aft. Share this:FacebookLinkedInTwitter
