The great thing about autumnal sunrise (apart from the colours) is that you do not have to get up to early to appreciate them. Woke without an alarm, time for a morning cup of coffee and then during a brief walk in the still and crisp morning air took the opportunity for a hand held snap of the pre dawn colours appearing and deepening over Knoydart.
Like the evening, the morning sun brings a richness to the colours. This view from the Sound of Sleat brings out the richness of the colours in the landscape. The castle is the home of Clan Donald and is well worth a visit if ever you are on the Isle of Skye.
Further information on this part of Skye can always be found on the Visit Sleat website.
Earlier in the week I had been reminded about my previous career when a Belgium minesweeper came passed the house.
With a blanket of cloud over head the ship blended well with the grey waters in the Sound of Sleat that day.
