Glencoe is probably one of Scotlands most famous Glens, being the site of the famous Massacre of Glencoe, which has been relived in song, books and film.   Standing guard over its southern entrance is one of Scotland’s most iconic mountains – Buachaille Etive Mor.  The deep side Glen can be a moody place and takes on a variety of guises as the weather sweeps through from Rannoch Moor to the East.  On its southern side are the Three Sisters which guard the ‘Lost Valley of Glencoe’ (Coire Gabhail); whilst the northern side consists of won of britain’s finest ridge walks, Aonach Eagach.  Finally as you leave the glen to the North West you pass the Pap of Glencoe and meet the delights of Loch Leven as it runs in to Loch Linnie under bridge connecting North and South Ballachulish.  Further North, at Fort William, is Ben Nevis, the highest point in the UK at 1344m.  This mountain has a totally different feel whether viewed fromtheNorth or the South & West.  From the South or West it is huge but rounded, its treacherous gullies seemingly lost in its size.  However the view from the North opens up the foreboding of Coire Leis and also the arete that connects Ben Nevis to itsneighbour Càrn Mòr Dearg.
