Bath 36 Royal Navy 13

Gaz Evans Returned

Welcome return to  Navy colours for newly promoted Sgt Gaz Evans.  Very quickly in to his stride in both attack and defence and although he did not last the full eighty minutes he, for my money, was the navy’s star performer and my man of the match.

Early Play was all Bath

With the Navy Working hard in defence

But had they shown Bath too much respect early on?

First Try to Bath 7 - 0

A Dave Pascoe penalty was enough to get the Navy on the score sheet and give them some belief going forward.

Tom Glover scores after a charge down

To obvious delight of his colleagues

A further Dave Pascoe penalty and the Navy side could be well pleased as they headed to the changing rooms with their noses in front 13 – 7.

Half Time Bath 7 Royal Navy 13

Second Half was a different story

Players worked hard

Looked for openings

Were still committed in defence

But as injuries and fatigue took its toll

There remained no way through

Final score Bath United 36 Royal Navy 13.

Next up is the Marine Nationale, Stade Felix Mayol, Toulon. Packing my camera and setting off for a leisurely journey South. Next stop the Med.
