Highland View Bed and Breakfast, North Ballachulish
I can thoroughly recommend the Highland View Bed and Breakfast which is run by Karen and Colin. Not only is it an excellently run B&B, with the most friendly of welcomes, but it has a beautiful location near Glencoe; overlooking Loch Leven as it flows in to Loch Linnhe, so two lochs for the price of one. It is ideal for exploring Glencoe, Ranoch Moor, the Nevis range and the often forgotten Ardnamurchan Peninsular. Karen has helped and encouraged me over the last couple of years to promote more of my photography so you will see some of my work on display.
The Barber Shop, Whiteley
Another location that has encouraged my fledgling photography business. The Barber Shop Whiteley is run by Doug and Sharan and like the Highland View, displays my photographs. It is situated in the business park by the ornamental lakes so, if you have time, bring a camera for good shots of swans and other water birds. The walks around Whiteley are excellent for woodpeckers, deer and various raptors.
Colin Prior – Explore | Discover | Inspire
Colin Prior is one of the most inspirational photographers and people I have met. His photographs have long spoken for themselves but having attended a couple of his courses I have had a little more insight in to his approach to his work. I can recommend both his courses and his books to anyone who wishes to get more out of their own photography or who simply wishes to understand more about the landscape that surrounds them.

Celtman
Celtman is billed as an extreme scottish triathlon. Having been privileged to be on the course for the inaugural competition in June 2012 I can attest that it lives up to its billing. A 3.8km swim in the cold sea waters of Loch Shieldaig is followed by a testing cycle ride of 200km around Loch Maree passing through Gairloch before climbing up through Dundonnell, at the back of An Teallach, and finishing at Achnashellach. The marathon run to the finish starts with a climb through the Coullin Forest over the Coullin Pass. Passing Loch Coullin and Loch Clair the competitors can see the majesty of Beinn Eighe growing larger and larger before they ascend its southern slopes. A ridge run to Ruadh Stac Mor, at 1010m the highest point of the course, is the prelude to the descent of the scree slopes into Coire Mhic Fhearchair and the finish at Torridon Community Centre.
Sleat Perfectly Skye
Living close to Sleat Point I can fully appreciate the variety and wonder of the Sleat Peninsular. The Visit Sleat website brings together the information that anyone visiting for the first time needs. We have some of the finest restaurants on the Isle of Skye and some exquisite locations which include quiet sandy beaches, great views of the Coullins and of course the change to see, close up, otters, red deer, seals and a wide variety of other birds and animals.
